MACRO FLOWER PHOTOGRAPHY

macro flower photographyWhat is macro photography, you ask? Basically it's close-up photography using a specialized lens. Most macro shooters like to take pictures of very small things, like insects. I chose to photograph flowers because when zooming in at a 1:1 ratio, or a closer magnification, along with the limited depth of field, you can create some amazing abstract images. Depth of field is the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that are sharp in the image. I prefer having most or part of my images blurry, as it adds to the abstraction of the shot. I am not looking for a detailed, scientific photograph.

Macro flower photography has become more popular. However I feel my work is different from most, as my vision is more from an artistic point of view, rather than a nature photography point of view. I am hovering around the flora at all angles trying to capture an abstract vision so the viewer won't even know if it's a flower or a leaf, but instead think it's a abstract painting of some sort. I'm not documenting a flower species. I am creating abstract art with my camera. This is what sets me apart. I hope to change the rules of macro photography.
