URBANIAK
"When
taking my photographs, I try to blur the line between photo
and painting, while capturing bold shapes and texture to
create abstract art."
As an abstract painter
(www.sunurbaniak.com),
I've always been drawn to flowers for their amazing color, texture and light.
They've always been my favorite subject matter to photograph. Over the course
of my life, I've been trying to capture what I feel when I look at flora and
now, finally, feel ready to share my vision with the world.
I look at my photographs as pieces of art, abstract art made by nature. Just
like a painting, every flower is an original piece in that moment in time, and
I try to capture it in all its beauty. I use a Nikon D60 digital SLR with a Tamron
90mm f/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 lens. I do minimal photoshop enhancements. It's
not my intent to change Mother Nature's creations.
I chose macro flower photography to become one with the petals, to feel enveloped by
it's form and mostly to prove that art can be seen in everything around us—you
just have to look closely. It's this closeness that allows flora to be abstract
art with its captivating form, texture and color. It's about perceiving something
that its not and using your imagination to mold it into something mysterious
that speaks to you. That is art.
